When parent carers are heard.

Outcomes for children improve.

We believe that when parent carers are heard, understood, and involved, services improve and outcomes for children and young people with SEND are enhanced.
Who we are?

Cornwall Parent Carer Forum is dedicated to empowering and uniting parent carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

We work to represent the voice of parent carers with the local authority, health services, education providers, and voluntary and other organisations to ensure that families’ voices are heard and valued.

Our mission is to...

Champion..

the needs of SEND families by advocating for positive change in policies, services, and support.

Provide...

a strong, collective voice that represents the experiences and insights of parent carers across Cornwall.

Promote...

co-production and collaboration, working together with service providers to shape a more inclusive and effective SEND system.

Support...

and connect parent carers, offering guidance, resources, and a welcoming community.

About our Forum

Meet our Team

Please note that we are volunteer parent carers. There will be times when some of us are more active than other.

“I'm Annie and I've been a parent carer for twenty five years now. My children have a range of additional needs and we've experienced education at both mainstream and specialist. I've been a member of the new Cornwall parent carer forum since June 2024. My background and profession is post-16 education and I am passionate about every child and young person - and every parent carer- being heard.”

“Hi I'm Bex, I am a parent carer of primary and secondary aged children both in mainstream but with different individual needs. I have been a part of the new parent carer forum since summer 2024 and with a background in project management I am looking forward to supporting other parent carers and young people in Cornwall.”

Hello, I'm Becky-Jo. My professional background has been customer service and in administration. I am a parent carer to children in primary mainstream and secondary specialists setting. Our SEN journey started in 2022. I am looking forward to promoting change in our SEN community and helping other parents' carers feel valued and heard.

Hi, I’m Carolyn. I’m a parent carer to a post-16 young person with autism, and I also care for my disabled partner. My older two children are on the spectrum too, so neurodiversity is a big part of our family life. I’ve worked as a teaching assistant in an SEN setting, which gives me insight from both sides as a parent and as a professional. For many years, I managed to navigate education, health, and care fairly smoothly… until my son turned 16. That’s when the “yes, let’s see what we can do” turned into a long list of “no’s.” I joined the Cornwall Parent Carer Forum to make sure parent voices are heard and to show that when Cornwall Council gets decisions right, families thrive but when they don’t, that’s exactly why organisations like CPCF exist.

We understand the everyday challenges and triumphs across all educational settings. By sharing our stories, we help shape services that truly work for families. Your perspective matters, wherever you are in your journey. Join us in creating positive change—together, our collective voice ensures every family gets the support they deserve."
